Two-Way, Compact Design Belies Massive Sonic Output, Ultra-wide Soundstage
MELVILLE, NY, October 7, 2019 – Alta Audio, the company that combines advanced technology and exquisite aesthetics to create industry-leading home audio loudspeakers, today announced it is shipping Alec, a new standard for high-fidelity performance. The two-way Alec achieves imaging that is natural and sonically accurate in size, placement, and timbre, with the feel of live.
The new Alec was developed out of a company mission to design a floor standing speaker with a compact footprint [40 1/2” H x 15” W at the bottom x 8 1/2” W at the top x 12.5” D] that reproduces the detail, dimensionality, and feel of a live performance. Its two-way design creates a natural – and neutral – listening experience that accurately conveys the artist’s sonic vision.

Priced at $10,000 per pair, the two-way Alec employs a crossover featuring components to reproduce sound that mirrors a live performance.
Alta Audio’s 5.75” neodymium magnet ribbon tweeter is responsible for the Alec’s natural and detailed high-frequency response. Likewise, the 8.75” woofer, whose tuning parameters are coupled to the unique cabinet design for its infrasonic (floor-moving) bass and for refined cohesion between the Alec’s 10.5’ XTL (Extended Line Transmission) and its pure aluminum ribbon tweeter. (Extended Transmission Line is Alta Audio’s proprietary technology that applies sonic geometry to tune speaker cabinets as if they are musical instruments, delivering an accurate, fast, and powerful low frequency response.)
Alta Audio’s Alec speaker features a frequency response of 32Hz-47kHz, sensitivity is rated at 93dB/2.83 volts, and impedance is 4 ohms. Upon its release, the Alec is available in a limited-edition Onyx Black finish, in addition to Piano Black and Rosewood.
